Where will the school administrators make the $2 million in cuts even though the levy passed May 4th?
$1 million equals 25 school employees according to Mark Schiel, treasurer
That means 50 employees will be laid off for the upcoming school year.
Quote from htpp://www.miamisburgpride.com : How will the money generated by the Emergency Operating Levy be used?
The Emergency Operating Levy is needed to assist the District in minimizing its financial shortfall and continue
operating at our level of Excellence. Even with the passage of this Emergency Operating Levy, the District will
still need to cut a minimum of $2 million from its annual budget.

Foreclosure Information, Unemployment and cost for employees
* "It is estimated that $1 million in cuts equates to approximately 25 staff positions".
Mark A. Schiel, Treasurer/CFO,
Miamisburg City Schools,
540 Park Avenue,
Miamisburg, OH 45342,
P: (937) 866-3381"
* Unemployment rate for Ohio is at 17.5%. In 2008 it was at 8.5% (Dayton Daily News)
* 42 homes in Miamisburg are up for Sheriff auction sale in Feb & March 2010
* Foreclosure filings, which had been waning locally, surged by 51.7% in January 2010, in the four-county Dayton metro area.
In January, 1,420 properties in the Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA)
received a default or auction notice or were seized,
versus 936 during the same month a year ago, said Irvine, Calif.-based
RealtyTrac Inc.
One in 269 homes received a filing in January. High unemployment is contributing to the increase in foreclosures.
But if this trend continues over the next few months, that would probably be interpreted that we’re seeing a kind of
resurgence, a second wave of foreclosure activity there. (Dayton Daily news Feb 11, 2010)
